There are generally three ways in which to fit a prescription-quality foot orthotic:
1) Creating a foam-box foot impression
2) Building a plaster cast of the foot
3) Performing an electronic foot scan
All of these methods are acceptable means of providing specifications for prescription foot orthotics. The process by which the lab manufactures the foot orthotic will vary, depending on whether the foot impression was made using foam, plaster or scan. If you have questions regarding the method of fitting orthotics that best suits your purpose, feel free to contact our lab.
